^^ <원문> Tuesday, April 10 Apple Event coming soon to announce dual-processor 667/733MHz G4s and new iBooks, other changes Rumor According to sources in Cupertino, an Apple Event in the works for the end of April or very early May to make several small announcements along with two major ones: the availability of dual-processor configurations for the 667 and 733MHz PowerMac G4s, and a new generation of iBooks. Availability of the PowerPC 7450 processors used in the 667/733MHz PMG4s has at last begun to approach levels where dual-processor configurations will be viable for Apple; correspondingly, the company plans to drop prices for the single-processor models. The entry-level 466MHz model, for example, will apparently drop $100 to $1599; higher-end single-processor models are rumored to be slated for even larger price drops. The dual-processor configurations of the PowerMacs will not be standard, however -- they will only be available as a build-to-order option until July, when Apple will announce 800 and 866MHz models with many models moving to a standard dual-processor configuration (thanks to the advent of pre-loaded Mac OS X 10.1 with its symmetric multiprocessing capabilities) and may also add a quad-processor option. Existing iBook models are already becoming scarce in the retail channel, with many large resellers beginning to build significant back-order lists and even in some cases advising customers to wait for the new iBooks. These new consumer portables are rumored to sport a larger, 13.3-inch 1024x768-pixel display, improved audio with stereo speakers, a thinner and lighter enclosure that may incorporate some bare-metal elements, the latest UMA-1.5 features (100MHz main bus, 4X AGP graphics, etc), and a new battery design among other improvements. Other rumored announcements at this event include the Mac OS X Update (10.0.1), a feature bump/price cut for Titanium PBG4s that could include a new graphics chip (most likely an ATi RADEON Mobility, although nVidia's GeForce2Go has tremendous consumer demand behind it), and QuickTime 5.0 for Mac OS 9.
