Hey, that looks familiar
Intel's model digital home contained an all-in-one PC with a striking new design built around a white flat-screen monitor, but despite a strong resemblance, it's not the new iMac. It's a PC from Korean PC maker Lluon.

IMAGE The Intel worker stationed by the PC said he's had it for several weeks, so it's definitely not a quick copy of Apple Computer's latest creation. It does boast a 17-inch-wide screen like the iMac, and it even touts new cooling technology for quieter operation--also a feature on the latest Mac. But of course, this is a Windows-based computer with an Intel chip, not a Mac with IBM's G5. Another difference is that the Lluon machine features a built-in Webcam, whereas Apple sells its iSight camera as an add-on.

And unfortunately for Americans and Europeans with Apple envy, the machine is slated to be available only in Korea. The machine touted by Intel had the Korean version of Windows on it, making it not too friendly for demos, despite its striking looks. So Intel just used the beauty to stream music to another part of its digital-home setup.

인텔 부스에 신형 아이맥이? ‘삼보 루온’
인텔의 디지털 홈 모델 전시관에는 흰색의 평면 스크린 모니터가 핵심인 새로운 디자인의 올인원 PC가 있었다. 이달 초 공개된 신형 아이맥과 많이 닮긴 했지만 다른 제품이다. 바로 한국 PC 업체 삼보 컴퓨터의 루온이다.

PC 옆에 앉아있던 인텔 직원은 몇 주 전에 제품을 받았다고 말했다. 따라서 애플 컴퓨터의 최신 제품이 아니란 건 분명하다. 루온도 아이맥처럼 17인치 와이드 스크린을 뽐내고 있으며 작동 소음을 줄이기 위한 새로운 냉각 기술이 적용돼 있다. 신형 아이맥과 마찬가지다.

물론 루온은 인텔 CPU를 내장한 윈도우 기반 컴퓨터로 IBM G5 프로세서를 내장한 맥이 아니다. 또 다른 차이점으로는 루온은 웹캠을 자체 내장하고 있는 반면 애플은 아이사이트 카메라를 애드-온 제품으로 판매한다는 것이다.

애플을 좋아하는 미국, 유럽 사람들에게는 불행한 일이지만 이 제품은 한국 내에서만 판매될 예정이다. 루온은 인텔의 호평을 받고 있지만 윈도우 한국어 버전이 설치돼 있어 빼어난 외관에도 불구하고 시연 용도에는 적합하지 않다. 따라서 인텔은 루온을 디지털 홈 시연에 쓰이는 다른 기기에 음악을 스트리밍하는 용도로 사용하고 있었다. :)

삼보의 루온... 디자인은 상당히 괜찮은 것 같습니다.

소니디자인센터에 외주를 준다고 했었나요?

오히려 소니 VAIO보다 휠씬 이쁘게 나온 듯.
